Class Description

This course focuses on the Social Gospel movement as it arose in the United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Through examination of selected figures and forms of institutional ministry, students will consider the strengths and the limitations of the Social Gospel as a theological system, as an approach to mission and ministry, and as a strategy for social transformation. Prerequisite: CH501.
